Missions
The basis for missions is God's word. Matthew 28:19-20 says "Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age." This is the Great Commission of Christ.
**Additional Scripture References: Mark 16:15; Luke 24:47-49; John 20:21; Acts 1:8

Missions can mean different things to different people. In an effort to fulfill the Great Commission of Christ, missions could include anything from local evangelism to international outreach. However in order to appropriately use church resources/funds, First Christian Church (FCC) has chosen to adopt the following definitions:

Missions: Any cross-cultural endeavor outside our local congregation with the purpose of fulfilling the Great Commission of Christ by proclaiming the gospel and making disciples. This may include addressing the physical needs of a population as a means to bring individuals into relationship with Christ.

Cross-Cultural: Includes people groups outside of the demographics of our local church body. Examples include people living outside the U.S. or people living within the U.S. in different socio-economic conditions (Urban, Appalachian, etc.)
