Local Outreach Projects
The people of First Christian Church are involved in their communities in many ways. Often these are the unsung daily investments of our lives into the lives of others by helping widows and seniors that need rides to church, the doctor or the grocery; mentoring a troubled youth from a single parent family; and just generally being salt and light to our neighbors in the name of Jesus.
If you want to take the love of Jesus outside the walls of the church building, there are many opportunities here at First Christian Church. Watch our weekly bulletins and newsletters for details. Some of the opportunities include:
Day of Service
We began our Day of Service in 2008 where our members go out into the community to collect food for the needy; do home and yard maintenance for those who couldn't do it themselves; serve food in homeless missions; provide hair cuts and styling in a women's shelter; renovate homes; mulch, clean and paint playground equipment at a local park; visit a nursing home and put on a worship service and many other projects. We continued developing this culture of service of love to our neighbors in 2009, 2010, and 2011 with over 200 members each year going out into the community to provide tangible acts of love to our neighbors.
Project One Hope
Project One Hope is a commujnity outreach supported by multiple churches in the Huber Heights community. Its purpose is to provide meals for the needy in our community, especially during these times of economic crisis and uncertainty. If God has put it on your heart to serve those in need, sign up at the Service Station or contact Ann Patenaude at email@example.com
Target Dayton provides a worship sevice and meals for homeless and underprivileged individuals in our community. They are in need of servers to minister to their homeless on a continual basis. Anyone 12 years of age and older can participate. If you are interested in ministering to the homeless and would like to join this group, on-line.
